The Explore Scientific EXOS2-GT PMC-8 GOTO mount has a completely new Goto controller developed according to strict US military standards and functions completely without the use of a hand controller. It consists of a robust Wifi controller unit, which provides all the necessary interfaces to control the mount using a phone app or computer.

The EXOS2-GT PMC-8 mount includes Nema-11 stepper motors which are connected directly to the unit via a cable and an ST-4 compatible autoguider interface is also available. The digital controller also supports a fine microstep operation to ensure extremely precise tracking. The power supply is via 12 volt direct current and the current consumption is a maximum of 1.6 amps at full load. For Wifi control of the mount, tablets, notebooks or desktop PC can be used, that have at least a 7" (17.5cm) display, a functioning Wifi and an operating system using Windows, 8.1, 10, or iOS or Android 4.4 and higher.

The specially developed APP ExploreStars offers a very convenient graphical user interface which also makes controlling the mount and navigating the sky a pleasure. Once initiated, the currently available alignment stars for initial alignment as well as the celestial objects of the database are displayed as a star map with additional and useful text information. The heart of the controller unit consists of a completely self-sufficient 2-channel multi-processor with 8 CPUs and a Wifi Ethernet 10/100 adapter and an IP function, which allows completely remote operation from anywhere via a web browser, ASCOM, and APP or if you prefer not to use the wireless option, you can even connect directly to the mount using a serial port cable. Whats really unique about the system however is Open Goto software which allows the possibility to write your own firmware and load it into the controller unit, therefore, making individual adjustments to the device functions and also creating your own additions to the object lists.
