The AX103S Refractor is a professional grade ED Triplet Apochromat and has been developed for astrophotography for all cameras up to and including full-frame cameras and this one has a Triplet ED lens and at the rear area there is an image field flattening lens.

This f8 refractor can also use an optional focal reducer which can further reduce the focal ratio to achieve even faster results in astrophotography. The 60 mm ring on the focuser allows you to attach 2" eyepieces and a camera adapter. While the AX103S has been specially developed for professional astrophotography purposes, its also a real visual highlight, especially when observing the moon and planets using an eyepiece. This is a telescope that will delight you for a lifetime.

The AXD2 mount in detail:

The Observatory class AXD2 mount comes with the new 'Starbook Ten' controller and the PFL polar finder, which makes it quick and easy to align the mount via reference stars. Robust construction and a lightweight housing with a photographic load capacity of 30 kg. The A7075 Super alloy, which is the strongest aluminum alloy available, is used for the R.A. and DEC axes.

The stability of the A7075 superalloy is stronger than titanium, which is known as a lightweight material for high strength. Its density is 38% less than titanium. The use of the A7075 super alloy for the axles makes the AXD mount lightweight yet stable. The rotating parts of the AXD mount have a total of 21 bearings ensuring the smoothest of movement.

Stepper motors:
Vixen chose more accurate stepper motors for this mount in order to exploit the full performance potential. The disadvantage of stepper motors with large steps has been eliminated by the Micro-Step Motion Control System. The system generates 400 pulses per second at high speed. This creates a very quiet sampling without vibrations while the stepper motors of the AXD mount have more than sufficient torque for higher loads. This is most evident when working at high magnification and astrophotography using CCD astrophotography cameras with small pixel sizes.

Worm gears:
The sizes of the worm gears have been increased in the latest Atlux version. The AXD mount has 270 teeth in R.A. and 216 teeth in DC. Both axes are 50 mm in diameter. As a result, the mount achieves a high degree of accuracy and running stability.

Low backlash:
Thanks to the Vixen Micro-Step Motion Control System, the stepper motors run extremely smoothly from low to high speed. This eliminates the use of reduction gears in the drive system and therefore reduces the play in the gears.

Elegant design:
The flat sides of the mount have been taken from previous generations of the New Atlux range. The white and silver-coloured housing ensures a modern and elegant exterior with high functionality. This AXD mount is the flagship of the Vixen mount series.

Polar finder telescope:
The AXD mount is equipped with a 6 x 20 polar finder telescope as standard. With the scale built into the polar finder, you can achieve a simple and accurate poler alignment in the northern hemisphere.
For observation in southern latitudes, the constellation Octans is imaged in the polar viewfinder, which is then set congruently with the real stars.

Periodic Errors Correction VPEC:
Usually, periodic errors are measured on mounts and corrected by the user. Since the old StarBook did not save this error permanently, the Starbook Ten has addressed this problem. The periodic error of the mount is now measured in the factory and eliminated before delivery. This is called VPEC and it works automatically as soon as you use the mount.
They achieve an accuracy of +/- 2.8 arc seconds. You will be able to further increase tracking accuracy by saving your own recorded periodic errors.
