The ASI 2600 MC Pro is a powerful color astro camera using the color sensor in APS-C format with an extremely high sensitivity and 16 bit data depth. This means that even with longer exposure times, the stars no longer burn out and you get a much better dynamic range in your images.
One of the outstanding features of the ASI 2600MC Pro however is the sensational light sensitivity and the QE of 80%. Thanks to the back illumination technology and the very low amplifier glow, this camera is very well suited for all astronomical applications - Particularly for deep sky astrophotography.
The camera has a 26MP sensor with a small pixel size of 3.76um, yet it accommodates an impressively large well depth of 50 ke-. As one of the few CMOS astronomy cameras with 16-bit ADC on the market, ASI2600MC Pro was developed with the optimal characteristics for astrophotography in mind. This 16bit ADC is not a CCD 16bit ADC, it can really achieve a dynamic range output of 14 stop, which will significantly improve the image sharpness and contrast, and also create smoother and more natural colour transitions.
The ASI2600MC Pro also comes with the polyamide heating element that can avoid any condensation problems on the camera sensor. The anti-dew heater, heats up the protective screen slightly to avoid condensation problems. The power of the anti-dew heater is about 5W. It can be switched on and off in the software to save electricity.
