This highly corrected 102mm triplet Apochromat (three-lens refractor) with a light weight outer tube and 2.5" HEXAFOC precision focuser offers tack sharp stars, contrast and detail and a substantial 714mm focal length.
With the new Explore Scientific FCD-100 ALU Hex, the color and clarity of this telescope sets new standards for refractors in this class. The optical design achieves a polystrehl of 0.97 - (a value that represents the highest correction) making this small excellent Apochromat a very versatile device. The fast aperture ratio of f/7 allows for shorter exposure times in astrophotography, resulting in high image sharpness and excellent contrast making observations of targets such as the North American Nebula or the Andromeda Galaxy just as clean and sharp as planetary observations. Refractors at this focal length (particularly Triplets), many smaller deep sky objects frame up extremely well allowing even more detail to be seen on targets such as M51, M57 and many more. This scope is also extremely light and compact - as the dew protection cap can be inserted to save space.
The state-of-the-art glass optics and meticulous production techniques have meant that these telescopes offer observation quality at the highest level. The high-quality 2.5" HEXAFOC focuser with 1:10 reduction completes the setup of this all round device - and due to the large diameter of the focuser (65mm), no vignetting occurs even in astrophotography using larger sensors.
