The optics of the VMC260L surpass that of the traditional Schmidt-Cassegrain and are only 650mm long despite its high focal length of 3000mm. With its large aperture of 260mm (10"), this optical telescope collects a huge amount of light for serious professional observations and photography of the planets, as well as countless deep-sky objects.

The dielectrically coated mirrors of the VMV260L guarantee extremely high sharpness and maximum brightness. Thanks to the open tube, these devices also cool down faster than conventional closed Cassegrain systems. For further expansion, an optional 0.62x focal reducer is available to reduce the aperture ratio to 1:7.1. This results in a shortening of the exposure times and easier photography of larger objects. Included with this telescope is a dovetail rail and a carrying handle, which can also be used as a camera mount for star field shots.

The AXD2 mount in detail:
This hight quality professional grade mount is made from using robust construction and a lightweight housing with a max load capacity of 30 kg (Photographic). The A7075 Super alloy, which is the strongest of aluminum alloys, is used for the R.A. and DEC axes. The stability of the A7075 superalloy is stronger than titanium, which is known as a lightweight material with extremely high strength. Its density is 38% less than titanium. The use of the A7075 super alloy for the axles makes the AXD mount lightweight yet stable and the rotating parts of the AXD mount have a total of 21 bearings. This ensures a very even movement to pan and track objects.

Stepper Motors:
Vixen chose more accurate stepper motors for the mount to excercise its full performance potential. The disadvantage of large stepper motors with equally large steps has been eliminated by the Micro-Step Motion Control System which generates 400 pulses per second at high speed. This creates a very quiet sampling without vibrations and the stepper motors of the AXD mount have more than sufficient torque for high loading equipment. This is most evident when working at high magnification and photographing using CCD photography with small pixel sizes.

Worm gears:
The sizes of the worm gears have been increased in the latest Atlux version. The AXD mount has 270 teeth in R.A. and 216 teeth in DC. Both axes are 50mm in diameter. As a result, the mount achieves a very high degree of accuracy and running stability.

Low play:
Thanks to the Vixen Micro-Step Motion Control System, the stepper motors run extremely smoothly from low to high speed. This eliminates the use of reduction gears in the drive and therefore reduces the play in the transmission.

Elegant design:
The flat sides of the mount have been taken from previous generations of the New Atlux range. The white and silver-coloured housing ensures a modern and elegant exterior with high functionality - The AXD is the flagship of the Vixen mount series.

The AXD mount is equipped with a 6x20 polar finder telescope as standard. With the scale built into the polar finder, you can achieve a simple and accurate pole alignment in the northern hemisphere and for observation in southern latitudes, the constellation Octans is viewed in the polar viewfinder, which is then set congruently with the real stars.

Periodic Errors Correction VPEC:
Usually, periodic errors are measured on mounts and corrected by the user. Since the old StarBook did not save this error permanently, the Starbook Ten has addressed this problem and now the periodic error of the mount is measured in the factory and eliminated before delivery. This is called VPEC and works automatically as soon as you use the mount. They achieve an accuracy of +/- 2.8 arc seconds. You will even be able to further increase tracking accuracy by saving your own recorded periodic error.
