The AVX-C9.25 combines the quality optics of a Celestron 9.25 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with the computer-controlled equatorial Advanced-VX mount, providing an affordable entry into astrophotography.

The 9.25" was specifically designed for observations with 2" eyepieces and has an optimized aperture system to minimize vignetting at the edge of the field of view when photographing. Its primary mirror with a longer focal length and the secondary mirror with a lower magnification enable a flatter image and reduce optical aberrations.

The adjustable counterweight allows you to easily balance the telescope. The optics deliver clear images thanks to the StarBright XLT coating and collect 33% more light than the 8" model. The optimized aperture system increases contrast when observing planets and is an advantage when doing astrophotography. An optional polar finder scope and the software routine of the hand control box make it easier to align to the north.

The Advanced VX is designed as an ideal platform for astrophotography with smaller telescopes. For telescopes up to approx. 13.6kg (depending on the lever), the sophisticated functions of this large parallactic mount is now also available. Thanks to PEC (Periodic Error Correction), the periodic worm error that occurs in all mounts with classic worm gears can be compensated, so that long-exposure shots are easily carried out. You can also track objects far beyond the meridian without having to immediately turn carry out a meridian flip. This means you can observe the most interesting part of the sky without interruption. The Advanced VX also has a much wider base than its predecessor, which further increases stability even with large loads. The improved motors have a higher torque and can better compensate for slight imbalances.

Since spring 2019, it has been delivered with the dual dovetail clamp , so that both telescopes with the small CG5 rail (EQ standard) and the large CGE rail (3" standard) fit on the AVX - without additional adapters! All you have to do is move the clamping screws. Larger telescopes in particular benefit from the wider rail, which offers more stability.

Third-party dovetail plates:
The Advanced VX is still compatible with Vixen format dovetail rails. However, the rail must be at least 100mm long as the clamping points on the new AVX are 90mm apart. If a user wants to use the AVX with a telescope that has a Vixen (or CG-5) dovetail rail that is shorter than 100mm, the rail must be replaced with a longer dovetail rail however suitable rails are available separately.

The new AVX mount is not compatible with Losmandy D format dovetail rails. The CGE and Losmandy D formats are similar but not identical. Losmandy rails are about a millimeter wider, while CGE plates are deeper and have more surface contact with the dovetail clamp. To use an AVX with a telescope with a Losmandy D dovetail rail, the existing rail must also be replaced with a compatible dovetail rail.

State-of-the-art technology for mobile use:
Celestron Advanced VX mounts set a new standard for medium-sized telescopes up to 13.6kg. The mount was developed from scratch, always with astrophotography in mind. It offers many of the features of the large Celestron mounts at a very attractive price.

Solid cast parts and heavy-duty mechanics:
Based on the proven Advanced GT mount, the Advanced VX not only offers large, easy-to-grip adjustment screws and more powerful motors that can cope even better with unevenly distributed loads, but also a wider base for the tripod connection and an improved dual dovetail mount with two clamping screws. No premature tilting! Tracking is possible up to 20° beyond the meridian passage.

State-of-the-art software:
The AVX mount is supplied with the cold-resistant, much more powerful NexStar+ hand controller. This means you have a modern computer control system at your disposal - with over 40,000 objects stored. Thanks to the built-in clock, setup is even faster than before. The software automatically moves to the reference stars, you only have to center them in the eyepiece.

Advanced VX mounts can be controlled via Celestron PWI Telescope Control Software via the PC connection on the hand controller

Orientation made easy:
With the AVX, you no longer have to laboriously adjust the North Star using the polar finder scope: Align the mount roughly to the north, perform a 2-star alignment - and then call up the All-Star Polar Alignment. The software now helps you to align the mount precisely to the north, even if you cannot see the North Star. You can look comfortably through the telescope and do not have to kneel under the polar finder scope (which is still available as an option).

Versatile & Future proof:
In addition to an RS232 port, the AVX also has an autoguider input and two AUX ports. Here you can connect additional, separately available expansion modules - for example the SkyPortal WiFi module for control via WLAN with iPhone/iPad/Windows PC or the StarSense module, with which the mount automatically moves to its reference stars and centers them perfectly.

Experienced photographers will appreciate how easily this mount can be transported to a dark observing site. If you are new to astronomy or astrophotography, the Advanced VX will make it easy to get started and will serve you well for many years to come.

Avoid electronic damage – remember to use the right power supply!
To ensure the device works properly, please only use high-quality power supplies that meet the specifications for astro-use, i.e. outdoor use – cheap power supplies often only deliver the specified voltage and power at room temperature and can even damage the electronics in the worst case. We also have a range of power supply adapters available for these mounts and many others, just contact us.
