If the optics fog up, this normally means an early end to what could have been a successful astronomy session and there's nothing more frustrating for an Astronomer or Astrophotographer when this happens on rare crystal clear nights. Heater bands reduce the risk of dew on the lens or on the corrector plate by slightly heating the front lens of your telescope just slightly above the surrounding air temperature which prevents the dew settling on the lens.
A heater controller is also required for these heater bands which allows you to regulate the temperature and therefore achieve an optimal result with a minimum amount of power. You can also combine the heating sleeves with dew shields to further protect your lens or corrector plate from dew formation.
