Goto systems play an important role in the modern world of amateur astronomy as they ensure that users spend less time searching for specific objects in the sky and more time observing them through the eyepiece. All you need to do is enter some basic data such as the date, time and location and point the telescope at, at least 1 known reference star (Accuracy can be further improved by carrying out multiple reference star alignments). The user can then select from many thousands of deep space objects in the integrated database and the telescope will then automatically move and track the object you want to view.
One of the standout features of this MCX telescope is the very solid fork mount made of aluminum and the universal field tripod made of stainless steel which help guarantee a secure and stable platform for viewing. In addition, the drives in both axes are equipped with precision bearings and precise worm gears made of steel & brass which help ensure an even and quiet tracking of the stars.
You can also adapt your smartphone camera directly to the eyepiece using the adapter included or mount your camera directly onto the M35 thread connection to take and share astro photos of the moon and planets. The 90° diagonal on the back of the telescope allows for a quick and comfortable change between the use of an eyepiece or a camera.
This MCX telescope operates in ALT/AZ (Alt Azimuth Mode) and also 'EQ Mode' (German Equatorial Mode). ALT/AZ mode is the simpler option for quickly getting setup to view the night sky with ease, however if you are taking photos and you want to track the sky with much more accuracy then you also have the option to switch to 'EQ Mode' thanks to the built-in polar wedge which allows the tripod head to be tilted and adjusted to the latitude of your location.
