TS Optics 14" f/5.13 Newtonian Astrograph is an excellent telescope for Astrophotographers who want to use a CCD camera or a DSLR camera with large sensors. It also offers a fully corrected and illuminated image field of 54mm diameter.
Telescopes for astrophotography without compromises:
- High-quality carbon fiber tube made in Germany - manufactured as carbon fiber hard foam sandwich for optimal stiffness at low weight. The telescope obtains its optimal temperature properties from the carbon fiber materials therefore with medium temperature changes, refocusing is not necessary anymore.
- The Primary and secondary mirror cell are also made in Germany. The entire collimation of the telescope can be done without tools.
- Very effective 3.0" dual-speed focuser - this focuser clamps 3" accessories together and it also allows for screwed connections.
- The built in N-AGK3 3" coma corrector provides some of the best illumination of all 3" correctors - it's suitable for all common sensors and perfectly suitable for high-resolution sensors right up to very large format sensors. The attachment to the M68 x 1 ZEISS style adapter thread is included.
- High-quality primary and secondary mirror for maximum sharpness. After assembling, every N-AG14 is checked on the optical bench prior to shipping and a production journal is included with every telescope.
- The edge of the secondary is also well blackened to prevent stray light and reflexes.
- CNC machined metal tube rings offer the best stability and elegant design and mounting to dovetail bars is done via female M6 threads.
- The N-AG14 Astrographs also offer two further focus positions for all common 2" and 3" correctors.
Anti-reflex paint for maximal contrast:
Berger Anti reflex colour paint is used as it darkens the inner wall of the tube. Apart from the lower weight, the main advantage is that the paint produces almost no rust and the optics stay perfectly clean.
Connecting your CCD camera to the telescope:
The N-AG14 Astrograph offers a generous working distance of 69.3mm from the M68 x 1 connecting thread.
Important note for using full-frame DSLR cameras:
Every N-AG14 Astrograph is made to use cameras with large sensors. However, you will see vignetting when using DSLR cameras. This comes from the body of the camera or from the adaption via the M48 adapter. By using flats, you can eliminate this vignetting. Full-frame CCD cameras are not affected by it, as the distance to the sensor is bigger and the cameras usually have a larger connection thread.
Spec:
- Aperture: 358 mm / 14"
- Focal ratio (without corrector): f/4.5
- Effective focal ratio: f/5.1 (due to the extension factor of the corrector)
- Focal length: 1837mm
- Primary mirror: Mirror substrate Pyrex, conical
- Secondary mirror: Diameter 104mm minor axis
- Tube: Diameter 412mm - Wall thickness 11mm
- Primary mirror cell: fully adjustable primary mirror cell
